The Königshütte in Bad Lauterberg in the Harz Mountains, today an industrial monument, was built in 1733 as an ironworks with a foundry. A few of the ironworks buildings still date from the 1st construction period around 1733, while other buildings, which are characteristic of the area today, date from the early 19th century. Not only the historic smelting area was partially removed or built over in the course of privatisation at the end of the 19th century. Since October 2014 the industrial monument has been recognised as a "cultural monument of national importance".

The support group offers guided tours of the ensemble as well as of the South Harz Ironworks Museum and provides insights into the iron store, the machine factory and the historic foundry with its cupola furnaces.
